Although these collections differ from my destination-inspired paintings, they were created alongside them throughout my career as an abstract expressionist.
From personal memories explored through abstraction to figurative subjects and plein air landscapes, each series reflects a different source of inspiration while remaining rooted in the expressive brushwork, color relationships, and emotional connection that have always guided my work.
Regardless of subject, the influence of abstract expressionism runs throughout the paintings in these series. If you would ever like to see more from the archive, let me know!

Special Spaces Series
More Collections
Special Spaces represents some of my most personal abstract expressionist work. Unlike paintings inspired by specific destinations, this series emerged from memories themselves—meaningful moments, experiences, and emotions that remained vivid in my mind. For example, a lively parade when I was in elementary school, to an afternoon with my Grandparents.
Rather than depicting a place, these paintings explore the colors, movement, and feelings associated with memory, creating works that are deeply personal while inviting viewers to reflect on memories of their own.

Field Trip

Collected Impressions is a series of figurative abstract paintings inspired by experiences, places, and moments in time. These works emerged from travels, events, and subjects that captured my imagination. From cattle encountered on trips through Arizona and award-winning paintings created for the Napa Valley Mustard Festival to boats on San Francisco Bay, each piece reflects a memorable experience.
While the subjects vary, the work remains rooted in abstract expressionism, using color, movement, expressive brushwork, and palette knife techniques to capture the spirit and energy of a place or subject.

Salt & Light Series

Point Lobos Cove
24" x 30"
Salt & Light is a series of plein air paintings created on location along beaches, coastal bluffs, and bay shorelines. While more representational than much of my work, these paintings focus on capturing the atmosphere, light, and feeling of a place rather than documenting it exactly.
Trees, boats, shorelines, and coastal landscapes are often recognizable, yet the work remains rooted in the same artistic approach found throughout my paintings. Expressive brushwork, palette knife textures, thoughtful composition, and color-driven interpretation remain central to the process. Created directly within the landscape, these works seek to capture not only what was seen, but also the movement and experience of being there.
