ARTIST STATEMENT

My paintings are inspired by places I have experienced and the memories they leave behind. I often paint over earlier layers, building color and texture to create a depth that mirrors the layers of memory itself.

Throughout each painting, the movement and weight of my brushstrokes reflect the emotions, impressions, and atmosphere connected to those places. The memories that inspire my work are often rooted along the California coast, including Monterey Bay, Santa Monica, and the San Francisco Bay Area.

As I paint, I revisit these experiences and allow color, shape, and gesture to emerge naturally. Each painting develops its own feeling and sense of place, inviting viewers into a moment of reflection, connection, and contemplation.

SELECTED HIGHLIGHTS

For over two decades, I created and sold original paintings to collectors throughout California and the United States.

My work has been exhibited in galleries, museums, universities, and juried exhibitions throughout Northern California. I was represented by Bay Area galleries including SLATE Contemporary and the SFMOMA Artists' Gallery, and nationally through Serena & Lily, a coastal-inspired home and interiors company.

My paintings are included in corporate and private collections, including Kaiser Permanente, Stanford Medical Center, Quagga, Evolve Technology Group, and more than 300 private collector homes.

In addition to painting, I have taught workshops focused on bold brushwork, creative color, and palette knife techniques. I have also led educational programs, public demonstrations, and community arts initiatives, including serving as Chair of the Capitol Artists Studio Tour and supporting efforts that connect artists with the public.

ART, BUSINESS & COMMUNITY

After nearly two decades as a working artist, life led me in a different direction for a time. I devoted the next chapter to family responsibilities and a career in high-tech sales, special events and marketing. Although painting moved from the forefront, creativity never disappeared, and returning to the studio has allowed me to bring those years of growth, experience, and reflection back into my work.

Today, I am excited to reconnect with the art community through the launch of Art Tours by the Sea. By introducing visitors to the artists, studios, and creative spirit of California's coastal communities, I can combine my lifelong passion for art with the event planning, relationship-building, and communication skills developed throughout my professional career.

It is a meaningful way to share the art of the coast while bringing together the creative and business experiences that have shaped my journey. I am excited to begin this new chapter by returning to the arts and introducing visitors to the artists, creative spirit, and inspiring places that make our coastal communities so special.
